BRAVE GENERALS, heavenly maidens, mischievous monks, and, yes, even a flying pig! China’s 5,000 years have yielded an endless trove of legends, myths, and literary classics. Through the wonder of classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun’s 2014 season brings these stories to life in vivid detail.
Shen Yun’s eighth season begins tonight at Houston’s Jones Hall. Shen Yun will also perform in Texas’ Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth.
This year Shen Yun will tour to over 100 cities, mostly performing for only two or three days in each city.
In North America, Shen Yun returns to New York’s Lincoln Center (Jan. 10-19) Washington, DC’s Kennedy Center (Jan. 21-26), and many other celebrated venues across the United States. In Canada, Shen Yun will tour seven cities in Quebec and Ontario.
In Asia, Shen Yun will return to Japan, Korea, and seven cities in Taiwan. South from there, Shen Yun will tour six cities in New Zealand and Australia, including Perth, which will host the first Shen Yun performances in western Australia.
In Europe, Shen Yun will perform in 12 cities in 10 countries, including—for the first time—Spain (Barcelona, Apr. 9-12).
More cities and shows may still be added in the coming weeks so if, after checking tour listings, you don’t find a city near you, be sure to check back.
Everyone at Shen Yun—dancers, musicians, singers, choreographers, composers, production crew, costume designers—has been working hard the last six months to produce 2014’s all-new performance. Now, they cannot wait to share it with you, knowing the huge smile it will bring to your face.
