On December 17-19th, the Shen Yun New York Company launched its 2011 world tour with four shows in Dallas, Texas. Meanwhile, the Shen Yun International Company and Touring Company are engaged in preparations for their Asia and Europe performance tours.
Shen Yun Performing Arts presents to its audiences the profundity and depth of traditional Chinese culture through world-class Chinese classical dance. For many Westerners who have grown up accustomed to watching ballet, this is a entirely new experience.
Mr. Guan Guimin, assistant company manager of the International Company, gave an account of the development of Shen Yun and its future prospects: “The company began touring in 2007. We grew from one company with 100 people to 300 people today with three dance ensembles and three orchestras that simultaneously tour the globe and we will continue to expand in the future.”
Mr. Chen Yungchia, assistant company manager, choreographer, and principal dancer of the Touring Company, says, “Art is without borders. Something that is righteous, that is traditional, is something pure and beautiful. This is what audiences of all nationalities can appreciate. Today’s society is morally declining. Our audiences love our shows because everything we present is righteous and compassionate, not to mention traditional. “
Mr. Chen also expressed his hopes for the upcoming tour: “This year in Europe, I hope more western audience members will be introduced to China’s 5000-year-old culture. Every year, there are brand new programs in the show. We hope to present different styles of dances to our western audiences; we want to bridge the cultural gap between the east and west.”
Shen Yun Touring Company will begin its 2011 tour in Ottawa on December 23rd. Shen Yun International Company will be premiering in Omaha, Nebraska on December 26th.
We hope you will join us this holiday season in one of our upcoming cities.
